Welcome to the Department Media Psychology!

With our research and teaching we - the Dept. of Media Psychology - work at the intersection of psychology and communication. We are an interdisciplinary team of scholars from both communication and psychology.

Online Privacy and Self-Disclosure

We aim at shedding light on the interplay of online media use and privacy perceptions and behaviors. Our interests lie in understanding the theoretical as well as the practical implications of how privacy is understood and experienced in online realms.

Knowledge and Media Literacy

The aim of our research on knowledge is to find adequate ways to operationalize it. We developed scales on privacy knowledge (OPLIS) and political knowledge (HIP) and co-operate with public institutions to further develop programs in media literacy.

Diversity

Is science fair? Our research investigates how well people of different genders and nationalities are represented as authors of scientific publications.

Change

Media are disruptive, aren't they? Our research aims to find out whether and how people change as a result of their media use.
