Information on theses for students

Are you interested in writing your thesis at our departement? We offer you the opportunity to write your bachelor or master thesis on different topics. Please read the following information carefully.

At regular intervals you can attain to information events on the supervision of final theses at the chair. There you will be introduced to the topics, the allocation process and the procedure of writing a thesis as well as the supervisors. All this information is also available for downloading. Detailed information on the content and form of the thesis and the further procedure can be found in the guidelines for theses. You can participate in the allocation procedure with your own topic or with a topic selected by the departement. If you do not yet have an own idea, we also provide a list of topics for theses. Reflection exam for Bachelor’s students starting in the 2026/2027 winter semester

The new examination regulations for the Bachelor’s program in Communication Studies are currently undergoing the approval process. They are expected to take effect starting in the 2026/2027 winter semester. The new examination regulations include a reflection exam as part of the final thesis. This serves as a fitting conclusion to the Bachelor’s thesis.  Students will have the opportunity to present their thesis and discuss particularly relevant findings. During the reflection exam, the approaches taken and the work itself will be examined in a discussion.

Format: In-person examination at Wollgrasweg 23, 2nd floor, Conference Room 540F

Date: The dates for the reflection exam will be announced on October 30.

Grading: The reflection exam is ungraded. If the reflection exam is not passed, the final thesis is also considered failed.

Our students are very active and have already researched a wide range of topics. Some of our exciting theses can be downloaded in a presentation.
