Researchers of the Department of Media Psychology at the Ohio State University (USA)  [30.08.13]

Prof. Dr. Sabine Trepte, Tobias Dienlin and Josephine B. Schmitt currently conduct the main study of the culture comparative project "National Identity and Political Knowledge" at the Ohio State University.

Since August Prof. Dr Sabine Trepte and her research assistants Tobias Dienlin and Josephine B. Schmitt are on a research stay at the School of Communication of the Ohio State University. Together with Prof. Dr. Silvia Knobloch-Westerwick and her research assistant Benjamin K. Johnson, they conduct the main study of the culture comparative project “National Identity and Political Knowledge” which was started in January 2013.

In the context of the project, the influence of identity relevant news on political knowledge will be examined. From April to May 2013, a pretest was conducted with students from the Ohio State University as well as students from the Unversity of Hohenheim to test the stimulus material. During the research stay of Benjamin K. Johnson at the University of Hohenheim in June 2013, the pretest was evaluated. On that basis, the research team planned and developed the main study in English and German. The data collection in Germany will be in October 2013 at the University of Hohenheim.

The Ohio State University (OSU) in Columbus (Ohio) is one of the largest universities of the USA. It is famous for its legendary American Footbal Team “Ohio State Buckeyes”, as well as for excellent research particularly in the field of communication science. Famous communication researchers such as Brad Bushman, William “Chip” Eveland, Andrew Hayes, Michael Slater, Erik Nisbet and Silvia-Knobloch-Westerwick teach and research at this university.
